Gig Venues in Bristol

Gig Venues in Bristol

Our students here at Drum Lessons Bristol often ask where the best places to see both new and established bands are in Bristol. Here are a few of the best places in the city to see bands and DJs. These are great venues to get inspired to push your music further. We are very lucky in Bristil to have a vibrant music scene outside these venues too so check out your local pubs for their line ups too!

The Louisiana

The Louisiana is a well known venue in Bristol which has been operating for over 25 years.  Headfirst Bristol say about the venue: “An essential tour stop for any emerging indie artist the Louisiana is Bristol’s prime indie and folk venue. Literally everyone who’s anyone has played the Lousiana on their way to the top, and I mean everyone. Muse, Kings of Leon, White Stripes, Bloc Party, Coldplay, The Libertines, The Strokes… all have graced the Lousiana’s modest stage.” It is clear that the venue has sen some extremely impressive acts and it is clear that both for the big names and up and coming acts, this is the place to come! It can be located at Wapping Road, Bathurst Terrace, Bristol, BS1 6UA.

Mr Wolf

Mr Wolf, based at 33 Saint Stephen's Street, Bristol, Avon, BS1 1JX, has built a truly great reputation in its 10 year history, becoming a vanguard in Bristol's well known music scene. In the day time it serves noodles and at night shows some of the top bands, DJs, poets and comedians on offer in the region. Located in the old town, you find it tough to think of a famous Bristol band that hasn’t performed here. You are guaranteed to find the best in up and coming talent here. A great place for drum students to come and be inspired.

The Old Duke

The Old Duke is a music venue situated on the cobbled King Street in the heart of Bristol. Named after Duke Ellington, the pub has become world famous for it's live traditional, New Orleans inspired Jazz music. The venue also holds its own music festival! More recently the pub has added Blues and more modern Jazz bands to its program and now has live music on every night of the week and on Sunday lunch times. In 2009, The Old Duke was named by the Brecon Jazz Festival as one of 12 venues which had made the most important contributions to jazz music in the United Kingdom. This venue is perfect for those drummers we teach who aren’t so interested in the rock scene and need some top class inspiration. You can find The Old Duke on King Street, Bristol, Bristol, BS1 4RR.

The Fleece

Established in 1982, the now legendary live music venue in Bristol has played host to some of the best known names in music today. These include Oasis, Radiohead, Amy Winehouse, Emeli Sandé, White Stripes, The Strokes, The Killers and even Bristol born Rob Ellis’ PJ Harvey! A favourite among locals and students alike, you are guaranteed a great night, 7 nights a week! Head down to the Fleece at 12 Saint Thomas Street, Bristol, BS1 6JJ to have a cracking nights entertainment.

The O2 Academy
